I don’t currently work in the lab, but I have worked in more than 6 different labs in my career and they vary a lot in size. some labs are really small and focused on a specific project or challenge, and some labs in industry are huge and very diverse. I have researched everything from genes in plants, viruses, cancer, bacterial contamination in medication, and genetics. It was interesting the difference between working in industry compared with academia, as industry have protocols for doing every process, where as research is more flexible and you can try different techniques to find the best method which works for you, but that can make reproducibility challenging. Working in a lab can be a lot of fun, as it’s very practical and hands-on which I really liked.
Have you visited a lab? Would you like to work in a lab?
