      Hi!
      When studying trees and forests it is important to study them over a long time period. This is because they live for so long. My trees are over 150 years old! I have only been studying them for 2 years so at the moment I need a few more years to find answers 🙂
      However, we have found some solutions to help our forests and environment. Firstly, not throwing litter on the floor really helps our environment. You can also help by picking litter up and telling others to throw rubbish in the bin. Recycling is very important too, this makes sure we re-use our rubbish instead of putting it into landfill. Making sure we take our own bags wen we go shopping (sometimes parents need reminding too!) and cutting down our plastic use. Lastly, walking everywhere (and taking public transport) instead of using cars so much. This helps by reducing pollution which can damage animals and plants (as well as damaging us!). There are many ways to help our environment, so feel free to ask the people around you and research how you can help 🙂

      yes, I help fund research which is doing lots of things to help the environment, like how to break down plastics in the ocean, and developing alternatives to plastics. I also fund research into which crops we can grow which will capture the most carbon form the air and so help reduce global warming, and which crops are best for the environment and support lots of insects and animals as well as being good for the soil and also healthy to eat. We also develop new alternatives to fossil fuels, like biofuel which can be made of plants and is better for the environment. And Super Broccoli which is healthier, meaning we can live longer healthier lives.
