To be honest most of my scientific career I have actually studied insects rather than plants, but I enjoy studying plants for two main reasons. First because they are so important to life on Earth, creating the air we breathe and the food we eat through photosynthesis. Second, I just really love seeing the different plants grow and start to flower throughout the year. The more I learn about plants in the UK the more I know which plants are going to start flowering at a certain time of year and I like seeing them start to blossom.
