Yes, I love my job. I get to help scientists who are working on really difficult problems, and I get to see all the amazing new discoveries and innovations. I get to help direct where we should focus research to make meet some of the challenges we face right now, like single-use plastic, an aging global population, climate change, loss of biodiversity and habitat. I love going to work every day and knowing I’m making a difference.

Yes, for the most part I really enjoy my work. But like any job there are some days that are better than others. I really enjoy doing field work, writing up and talking about my results and I even really enjoy doing maths on the data I’ve collected. But there are still boring things to do when you’re a scientist, like entering in loads of data to spreadsheets and double-checking it for mistakes or spending a lot of time making the right graph or table to show your results. But ultimately I am doing these things to find out the answer to questions that excite me and that we don’t know the answers to yet, so even on the more boring days I feel a lot more motivated than in any other work I’ve done.
