Most scientists have to do both, sometimes they work on their own and sometimes they work in teams.
For my work in the trees I work alone. However, I always have to have a trained person on the ground to watch me and make sure I am safe. This person can then help if I get into a tricky situation. For example, I could be happily taking measurements and then a gust of wind tangles up some of my ropes. The person on the ground will then help untangle the ropes and lower me to the ground to wait until the windy weather has gone away.

I work in a team when I work in the laboratory. Teamwork is really important to help get difficult jobs done or if you have lots of work to do you can share the work out. When analysing the leaves we have to weigh the leaves, measure them, dry them (for storage) and many more jobs! Therefore if we work in a team we can get the jobs done really easily.
