The amount of pollen a tree can hold depends on many factors such as age, species and geographical location. In general, younger trees do not have as much pollen as older trees because most of their energy goes into growing as high as possible. Trees that produce lots of pollen include: ash, beech, birch, elm, hickory, oak, sycamore, walnut, willow. However, just because trees are bigger does not mean they give off the most pollen. Grasses give off huge amounts of pollen and likewise, so do many flowering plants (such as asters, dahlias and daisies). The amount of pollen is very difficult to know because it has not been studied often due to the difficulty doing so. This sounds like a great science question that still needs answering! Urgent- Scientists required 😀 Also to note, sometimes its not the amount of pollen but the type of pollen- some pollens make people have more of an allergic reaction than others. I know I couldn’t give you an exact number but I hope my answer makes you understand why it changes so much!
