The main difference between bushes and trees is size and shape. A tree is much taller and bigger, and a bush is smaller and rounder. A tree tends to have one main trunk, where bushes tend to be formed of lots of thin branches without a main trunk, but obviously there are exceptions.

Trees are a chunky single trunk (over 30cm in diameter) with a huge busy top are over 10 metres tall. Whereas a bush usually is a lot closer to the ground and much much smaller. They can have multiple thin stems and usually not more than 2 metres of the ground. Examples of trees are: Ash, Oak, Walnut, Yew, Hickory and examples of bushes are: Bay, Hazel, Privet and Laurel.
