Transformed a gene from jelly fish into E.coli (bacteria) so that it glowed in the dark! We did it in the lab at university, it’s really fun.

I really enjoyed studying the growth of plants, so I grew seeds on a clear jelly and could photograph and measure the growth of the roots and shoots everyday and understand their growth in different conditions. I like this because I could see results every day and could better understand nature. I know it sounds simple or boring but so many of the things we do in the lab are so removed from the organism we are studying, but to literally be working with the plant and examining it under the microscope and literally seeing how it works was wonderful.
