I quiet like Cacti, because they are so strange and specially adapted for the desert. They have special adaptions to retain water, but because they store water in a place with very little water, lots of animals want to eat it, so it developed spines to protect itself. They also flower when the desert gets rainfall, but might be once a decade!

My favourite plants are orchids- they are very diverse and have 25,000+ species!

Orchids have very beautiful flowers to attract bees and other pollinators and they mostly like to live in the tropical rainforests but can be found everywhere except Antarctica.
Orchids can live on the ground (terrestrial forms), attached to trees (epiphytic types) or even thrive under the ground.

They have flowers that can come in all different shapes, sizes and colours. My favourite is called the monkey orchid- it has a flower that looks like a cheeky monkey. The world’s smallest orchid flower has been identified in Brazil, measuring just half a millimeter (0.02 inches). Meanwhile, the largest orchid is called the Tiger orchid and can be 3 meters tall with over 80 flowers on it.

Miscanthus is my favourite plant as it contains the most accessible sugars for my research!
